Fantastic to see the new Shine website.  It’s clear that Shine has achieved a lot in a short space of time and I wanted to share why I’ve been donating to Shine on a monthly basis for a number of years now.  

 If you’re reading this and thinking of donating to Shine, please sign up now.  They do an incredible job and have a fantastic vision for what could be achieved.  Unlike some of the big charities, every single penny that you donate goes to fund their work on the ground in Zambia, so your money will be working very hard to make a real difference.  

 I support Shine because I lived in Africa as a child so it has a special place in my heart, but also because I am privileged to have grown up with a good education that has provided the foundation for my career.  I now strongly believe that a good education is fundamental to providing the solid foundation for a happy and healthy life.  Nowhere is this more true than in Africa where a good education can break a number of vicious cycles – property, prostitution and people trafficking, and HIV/aids. 

 When Vineet told me about his vision for schools in Zambia I knew I had to get involved so set up a monthly direct debit – monthly so that they know what funds are coming in and can commit to making a long term difference to the children of Zambia.
