‘Beards for the Children!’ – when investment bankers downed their razors in aid of Shine
In a variation on the ‘Movember’ moustache-growing theme, in September 2009 the male members of an IT department of a large investment bank in London all grew their beards to raise money for Shine. Apart from having great fun as a team and generating a few laughs around the office, the guys managed to raise a total of £3,000. That was enough to run our entire school for nearly a year!

This event raised in excess of £10,000 and allowed Shine to build our school in a Zambian shanty town, now filled with 90 children from the local community who were previously out of education due to lack of schools in the area and inability to pay school fees. We are truly grateful to the 4 cyclists who took part and all who sponsored them.
