Meet the people who fundraise for Shine

Our first purpose built literacy academy opened in Jan 2010 after starting three years earlier in a rented room
Shine pupils are the orphans and vulnerable children from the compound called Kalikiliki who would not otherwise have access to education
Shine children take part in fun activities such as football, traditional dance, singing, arts & crafts and agriculture
Having only 15 pupils in each class means that Shine teachers can give their pupils the individual attention they deserve
The mammoth construction project that involved 30 local workers making over 30,000 bricks manually – without our own source of water and electricity!
Each pupil receives a daily meal cooked by local women using ingredients donated to Shine by the World Food Programme
We grow vegetables on our school grounds and sell them to local residents to raise money for running the school
