Do you want to help Shine make a better future for some of the world’s poorest children?
As Shine’s first project, we successfully constructed and are running a literacy school in the shanty town of Kalikiliki, which will one day accommodate 240 orphans and vulnerable children.
But we need money to continue running the school – to pay our local teachers and to buy teaching and learning resources such as books, chalk, desks and chairs. The school also has a feeding programme. We receive donations of Nshima and beans – staple food in Zambia – from the World Food Programme, which is cooked every day by women from the local community. However, we need money to buy charcoal for the cooking and for pots and pans.
Please help us with these costs so that we can continue sharing the gift of literacy with children who are currently unable to read and are living in poverty. We simply can’t do this without your help.
Shine is run by trustees who voluntarily give their time and own money to make the charity a success. This keeps our administration costs very low (most of the admin costs, such as bank charges and website costs are paid by the trustees). So you can rest assured that your donation is going directly to the people who need it most – the impoverished and illiterate children of Africa.
There are many ways you can help the Shine cause. However you choose to support us, your gift will directly contribute to the betterment of children’s lives in Africa, so thank you!
