Our school manager and 5 teachers are all residents of Kalikiliki and were previously unemployed. They have been trained by Shine and have been fortunate enough to receive guidance from internationally qualified teachers from the UK and the USA.
Our teachers have been trained to teach with love and warmth, using frequent positive feedback, and to generating a family-like atmosphere in the class. It is our policy that a feeling of love and compassion towards the children should prevail within the Shine Reading Academy, allowing the children to learn in an uninhibited way. The physical and emotional welfare of each child is paramount.

Reverend Banda works at the school as the School Manager. He has been with Shine from the beginning and even gave Shine a home in a spare room in his house while the classrooms were being constructed.

Teacher Sharon was the first teacher to be employed by Shine in 2007. She is currently teaching Mathematics.

Teacher Lyson joined Shine shortly after Teacher Sharon. He teaches Mathematics and Creative Writing.

Mrs Banda joined Shine in 2010 when we moved into our purpose built classroom block. This year she teaches English and Social Development Studies

Teacher Enala was added to the team in August 2010 to teach Literacy and Chinyanja (the local language)
Teacher Stella is our newest teacher. She started teaching Literacy and Science at the beginning of 2011 when we increased our pupil intake.
