1. Who pays for the postage of the Shine Gift Cards?
There will be no delivery charge for cards to be sent to a UK address. A small additional amount may be added for non-UK addresses, and the amount will be included in your order confirmation e-mail. Some of the Gift Aid money collected from your donation may be used to cover the cost of producing and posting your Shine Gift Card.
2. Can I change my mind about buying Shine Gift Card(s) and making a donation?
Making an order does not commit you to making the donation for the gift card. You will not need to make your donation until you have received your order confirmation e-mail. Once you have made your donation, online through Justgiving.com or by cheque, you will not have the right to ask for a refund.
3. How do I know the donation will be spent on its intended purpose?
The Shine Gift Cards will cover 3 different categories of the expenses of running Shine Zambia Reading Academy (the salary of the teachers, the cost of running the feeding programme and the cost of educating our pupils).
Shine has calculated the annual cost of each of these three categories separately. We will not produce more Shine Gift Cards annually than the cost for each category, so we will be unable to take donations that exceed these costs through the Shine Gift Cards. If the card you wish to receive has been ‘sold out’ then we will inform you through your confirmation e-mail and give you the opportunity to choose to make a donation within a different category if you wish.
Additionally, your donation will be allocated to the cost of your chosen category for a particular term (either the current term or a subsequent term in the same 12 month period, but not a term that has already been completed). This information will be kept in our records and not shared with donors, but if you wish to request the information on which term your donation has been allocated to then please contact us.
4. Will you keep my personal details?
As soon as we have posted your Shine Gift Cards we will delete your address(es) from our records.
If you have filled in a Gift Aid Declaration form then we will keep any details you have provided as part of our records to enable us to make the claim to HMRC. Your details will never be passed on to a third party.
By choosing to make a donation to Shine through our Shine Gift Card appeal we make the assumption that you will be interested in receiving occasional updates about Shine. For this purpose, we will add your name and e-mail address to our donor database. We will give you the opportunity to ‘opt out’ of this at the time of sending our confirmation e-mail to you, in which case your e-mail address will be deleted from our records once we have sent out your Shine Gift Card(s).
