Who We Are
Our vision
Shine’s vision is of an Africa where every child can read and write.
Our aim is to help alleviate poverty in Africa by tackling one of its root causes - illiteracy - in the poorest areas by setting up literacy programmes and centres in Zambia that specialise in providing free literacy education.
The charity’s target beneficiaries are poor and vulnerable children in urban shanty towns and rural areas, where poverty levels are high and literacy rates are low.
Our charity
Shine is a registered educational charity in England and Wales with registration number 1117954. Our local entity, Shine Zambia, is a registered NGO in Zambia. Although we are registered in the UK, we work exclusively in Zambia and have no UK staff, only volunteers.
